Railway connections are virtually 'turn up and go' and, as one of London's busiest bus corridors, there are extensive links from the area to the tube network towards central London, the south and orbital routes. A main road artery, the A23, runs through Streatham and will become part of London’s Red Route.
Streatham has two multi-screen cinemas, the Odeon and the ABC. Other attractions include the MegaBowl bowling alley, the ice rink and indoor swimming pool and nightclubs. Restaurant chains such as Pizza Express and Pizza Hut are joined by many small, specialist and family-run restaurants serving cuisine from all parts of the world.
There are many prime residential properties in Streatham, neighbouring some of south London's most affluent areas. Recent interest in the property market has been attributed to Streatham's variety of facilities and the many good quality properties at affordable prices.
