Herne
Hill
SE24
By
the 18th century it was a popular country residence for wealthy families
and so there were several elegant town houses in the district. The railway
reached Herne Hill in the 1860s and the area was soon transformed with
sprawling residential suburbs. The houses catered mainly towards the working
classes and as a result the district lost its fashionable status.
Today,
Herne Hill offers rural tranquility yet remains very close to the buzz
of Brixton and Streatham. Boasting a huge park with tennis courts, playgrounds,
and plenty of space but still only 10 minutes from the City via Thameslink.
Herne
Hill offers some of the best value properties within Zone 2 with the bonus
of the diversity of facilities from neighbouring Clapham, Dulwich and
Brixton.
